People can get locked up for hearing voices. One of the things you hear Christians say sometimes is “God told me……” and it often makes people back away. But Jesus clearly said “My sheep hear My voice and they follow Me” (John 10:27).
Throughout Bible history God spoke to people. Before Adam and Eve ate the fruit that God had forbidden them to eat, God walked with Adam and they talked to together. God told Noah to build an ark that ultimately saved human life on this planet. God called Abraham to move away from Ur of the Chaldees and that he would have a son when he was a hundred years old. If you read the Old Testament for the new, you will find God talking a lot to His people. And He spoke to people who didn’t even believe in him – people like Nebuchadnezzar. On and on God spoke to people and He still does.
Jesus Christ spoke to a murderer named Saul when he rode with his soldiers to throw more Christians into prisons. On the Damascus Road, Christ began to transform this fire–breathing dragon into a man who would later be called the Apostle Paul. Along with Peter and John, Paul became one of the greatest soul–winners of the early Church. And God spoke to John on the island of Patmos and gave him the entire book of Revelation to write down.
Hearing God isn’t limited to Bible Saints, but anyone can hear Him. Like so many other things you can learn so that the Christian life becomes more and more fulfilling, you can learn to hear Christ’s voice and absolutely know it is Him talking with you. This morning on the Larry and Ray Show the two of us talk about hearing God and how we know for certain we have heard Him. We invite you to join us as we share with you how to hear God, or how to hear him more clearly.
