In Light of Eternity by Randy Alcorn #3 A Lot To Think About

When Ted Bundy, the serial killer who murdered more victims than any other person in the twentieth century, was interviewed nationally the final night of his life by Dr. James Dobson, something he said stayed with me from that time on. Ted said “I’m glad I’m being executed tomorrow. I don’t know if the warden released me whether I would be able to stop from going out and murdering people again. Instead I’ll be going to Heaven tomorrow and I’ll be free from all sin at last.”

When Christ transforms any human life through their being born again (Romans 10:8-11), they aren’t born into their own perfection. That’s why the Bible tells us to “work out your own salvation through fear (awe) and trembling (realizing the reality of the Holy Spirit within you.)

God isn’t looking for people who are perfect. If he was looking for those kind of people, He would never have come to this planet. He wouldn’t find them on any other planet either. Jesus Christ was the ONLY man who lived life without sinning. I’ve sinned over and over again. And I’m sure you have too. Sometimes it feels good to sin because the Bible tells us sin is pleasure for a season. But most sins don’t stay pleasurable for long. On this earth, sin has consequence. But the awesome thing is, if you are a person who with absolute sincerity has asked Christ to come into your life and save you, He has come. Like the murderer in this chapter, You are guaranteed eternal life with Christ (and with me!) no matter what you have done or are doing.
